Studio Manager 9 Timesheets

This is probably the most popular feature of Studio Manager. These simple timesheets can be accessed by every billable person in your office over your local area network or even from home or anywhere else you find a broadband connection like at the local Starbucks wherever you might be.

It only takes a minute to fill in your time for the day. Pop-down menus display active jobs only (job number and job title) and service billing categories.

Because the timesheets are related to the Job Costs file (FileMaker Pro's relational capabilities make this possible), Job status reports instantly reflect timesheet entries. Paper timesheets are definitely out!

Oops! Sorry, the screenshot below will be updated later today. It should show the new stop watch feature.

The Optional Stopwatch Feature

Do You Like Stopwatches?

By popular request, we've finally put in a stop watch feature in timesheets. We don't add features lightly. There has to be a way to have your cake and eat it too. Here's how it works. If you want to start a timer, click the left arrow for a particular line item you are working on. Then click the second arrow to stop the timer and have the duration of your work calculated for you.

Three other little treats for you timer lovers. First, you can enter a starting duration before you start the timer in case you forgot to start it and a few minutes have already gone by. Second, you can run the timers multiple times. Third, whenever you stop the timer, you are taken to the duration field where the duration can be edited -- just in case you forgot to stop the timer when you stopped work.

If You Don't Like Timers

Not to worry. The timesheet works exactly like before. You can simply tab between the columns of the timesheet. The stopwatch isn't in the tab order so it doesn't slow you down one wit. If for some strange reason you feel in the mood to use the timers once in a while. They are there but they don't get in your way.
