Studio Manager 7.5 New Features
Straddling Between FileMaker 7 and FileMaker 8
Studio Manager 7.5 remains FileMaker 7 compatible.
Studio Manager numberal 8 will be reserved for a future FileMaker 8-only release that will be our next major development effort. Studio Manager 7.5 gives you a well-honed software machine that runs on FileMaker 7 and FileMaker 8 with extra features if you have 8. And, it's got three other major new features: (1) Sub-Jobs or Job Components, (2) Standard Task Sets and (3) Automated Archive & Restore.
Taking Advantage of FileMaker 8

We reviewed Studio Manager 7.0 for places to add FileMaker 8 features and added calendar date pickers, value list arrow controls and clairvoyant auto-enter functionality. If you are running FileMaker 8 or upgrade sometime, you will really enjoy these timesavers. These features are very slick and offer a lot of flexibility. You get to decide what works best for you. If you don't have FileMaker 8 yet, the features simply disappear gracefully and will be there when you upgrade to 8.
Sub-Jobs or Job Components

Now your jobs can have sub-jobs or components. The parent and children jobs are all jobs, so all are full-featured job citizens. You can do estimates for a parent job and you can do estimates for component jobs. Includes a nice estimate vs. actuals report. The illustration above show the component jobs portal that now appears on the Jobs entry screen so you can quickly get to the components.
Standard Task Sets

Studio Manager 7.0 has a simple and efficient task tracking system built-in. But some of our clients wanted more traffic management. So, we've added task sets. You can create a series of tasks for a type of job and then assign that set of tasks to a new job with two clicks.
Automated Archive & Restore

Now archiving the transactions in Studio Manager is push-button easy. You can move jobs out of your way when you want to and bring them back just as fast with Restore when you need them back. The result is faster performance for Studio Manager 7.5!
